ABOUT ME

Hi, welcome to my e-portfolio. I took my degree of science in education at UKM (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia). After that, i was posted to SMK Selirik. It is a boarding school in a rural area. Ninety-nine percent of students there consist of the Iban population. Students who achieve success in the schools are those who have strong resoluteness. Most of them come from the rural area. They have to stay independent. I was in service there for five and half years but I have only learned a little bit of the Iban Language. However, I learned a lot of new things in that schools such as how to communicate with our colleagues, students and the society there. Working outstation is not easy as I really have to learn to take good care of myself.

Luckily, I transferred back to my hometown after five and half years of service there. The new school exposed me to a new working environment and situation that was totally different from the previous school. The population here mostly consist of Chinese and Malay. The way I communicated with students had be changed. This is because their culture, society and background is not same. There are a lot of challenges for a teacher who teaches in the town area. Most of parents are educated and more concerned about their children performances in school.

After two years teaching at new school, I furthered my studies at Sultan Idris Education University. This university is situated in Tanjung Malim, Perak. It was not easy to let go of everything in school, home and come to a new environment to study. I miss my family and students very much. I hope I can finish my studies within one and half years, so that I can go back to look after my family and serve in school.

I miss my students at school. Recently, the spm result just came out. Some of my students who scored A1 in Biology, called me and informed me. They were so happy that they could perform well in Biology. I like them very much. They were thankful and appreciated what their teachers had done for them. I still remember one of them who thanked me many times on the phone. He was so surprised to know that he had gained 9A1 in spm. They were moderate students but, they deserved to have excellent results because they really studied and worked hard in their studies. They messaged me when they had any problems when doing their revisions. Before exams, they came to me and talked about their stress, worries and feelings. For me, teaching I and learning is not just carried out in classes and school time. With this, gave my handphone number to them and welcomed them message me when they have problems. This made my relationship with students close. I still remember that my students were so happy to see me in school during their spm exam time. I noticed that a teacher's moral support during exam time is very important to give them strength, blessing and confidence.
